Separating Sheep and Goats : New Kingdom Growth Structures to Heal the Nation

I want to challenge you with new possibilities for we as Christians to not forsake the gathering of ourselves together (Heb. 10: 24-25) but find new creative ways to gather together for the purpose of Kingdom good works and discipleship through work.

I have a different challenge for you this week. I am going to drop a series of scriptures and ideas on you and then I want to challenge you to some creative Spirit filled meditation to see how you think we can apply this in a personal and church Kingdom growth strategy in the years ahead.

1) All authority is of God even those we don't like government.

Rom 13:1  Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Rom 13:2  Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
Rom 13:6  For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Scripture says there are Godly structures in government authority and church authority and marriage authority. And all other legal structures of society such as corporate, finance, education, labour.  Each are ruled by duties, responsibilities. benefits blessings and punishment, laws etc. God expects to obey and work as unto the Lord (Philemon) even if the bosses are bad.

2)  There are good structures and bad structures of authority in life and society.

The best is described in Psalm 1:1-3 which says
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

How many times do we not prosper because the structures we live and have to operate in are run by sinners and the ungodly who organize and make laws and rules and operations according to "the counsel of the ungodly".

They waste our time, our money, our property, our health, our lives with their narcissist, egocentric games, their shameful behavior, their hierarchy corporate games, their destructive wars.  And yet we endure, we work, we pay our taxes, we support our families, we support our church community.

3) The more people and resources you can bring into an authority ruling structure the more work you get done as you apply the energy and resources of a networked community to the goals of the  organization.

This applies to all social, political and economic and scientific structures.  The people of God need to find new and creative ways to get our good people out of the world structures and their agenda.

4) The Christian community is good at creating three relationship structures.  The relationship of a person to God, the relationship of a family structure of husband- wife, parents-children. the relationship of believers in a local church fellowship.

We are not good at creating any larger structures of relationships in the world marketplace so that we do not have to live and work "according to the counsel of the ungodly or stand or sit or work with scornful sinners.

5) In my blog of 1 November I listed 7 metaphors that scripture gives us to an ascending increasing level of structures that describe more and more people coming into a relationship. I will repeat it again below...

Biblical Metaphor

Forsake Not the Gathering of Yourselves Together.

1. Bride

An eternal covenant. Focus on faithful preparation, building structures of purity and fruitfulness for a long future.

2. Family

A multi-generational household. Focus on discipleship, legacy, and passing down a spiritual inheritance.

3. Body

A divinely organized organism. Focus on building systems where all parts work interdependently for long-term health and growth.

4. Temple

A permanent spiritual house on an unshakable foundation. Focus on co-laboring with the Spirit in a divine, long-term construction project.

5. City

A public "city on a hill." Focus on building visible, culture-shaping institutions that shine the light of God's governance.

6. Tribe

A people with a shared destiny. Focus on creating a rich Kingdom culture and identity to pass down through generations.

7. Nation

A "holy nation" with a global mandate. Focus on building the comprehensive infrastructure of a contrast society to represent God to the world.

Can you think of creative new expressions in which we can bring God's people together in a way that we can get more done with more of God's people working in new structures bringing our work, His energy and our resources to Kingdom projects?

This is what Hebrews 10:24-25 is literally asking us "consider how to stir up one another to love and good works ....not neglecting to meet together" because it is only by creating networks that allow us to "meet together" that we can express out love for one another and do good works.

6) Example: What can a networked group of a "7. Nation" do according to what the Lord Jesus has asked us to do.....if we can manage to so network and organize ourselves: Matthew 25:

Mat 25:31-40  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Here is a major agenda item that Jesus sets on the Kingdom agenda:
I want you to solve  hunger, poverty, homelessness, sickness, water scarcity, crime.
I cannot do this by myself or by my family structure or by my local church structure.
Jesus says this is solved by a nation of His sheep.
Look at those 7 levels of God's people coming together.  Each level can solve its problems with its resources.
But for the really challenging big national problems...politicians or taxes or corporations cannot solve these things regardless of party political promises or corporate social responsibility plans. The goats of a nation cannot solve this level problems.
God expects His people to so organize themselves that they get off the goat agenda and onto the Kingdom sheep agenda.

I expect the government to do what God called government to do. They bear the sword to punish evil doers, protect the borders of the nation, write laws and police the laws of the land. They are referees not the players on the field.  They cannot solve problems that Jesus says only His sheep nation can solve.

This level of problems require the sheep of His pasture to do what Psalms 1 says...create a sacred space where they can meditate on His law day and night and from that gain insight on divine strategies to create the resources to meet the need of the people of the nation.

7) We are good so far in our meditations and preaching on relationship with the Lord, on home and family on local church community, on missions and evangelistic outreach. But we have not been good on organizing ourselves for the national marketplace.

Now I want you  to meditate on what a Kingdom nation structure looks like. Open your Bible to 1 Chronicles chapters 28&29.  See how king David organized his nation of Israel.  Remember that this book of Chronicles was written by Ezra for the instruction of the new colony of Babylonian exiles establishing a new Temple and a New Jerusalem.  He was showing them from history God's pattern for their new settlement in the midst of the Persian empire as a light to the gentiles.

Meditate on this carefully Try to identify all the various roles described in the nation.  The executive rulers of king and counselors and princes over provinces, of the mighty men (entrepreneurs) of the rulers of 1000's and 100's (large and small corporations) of priests and Levites and their temple attendants and ministry duties, of farm and mine managers and bankers of the national bank.

8) How can we use the tools of modern technology to create new national networks that make it possible for God's sheep can find each other and create new ways to gather ourselves together to show love and to do good works?

How can we use modern tech networks to create barriers of entry to exclude the goats who want to feast on the pastures of the sheep?.

How do we do as China has done with their social credit scores create an environment, a network community where a persons good name is more valuable than gold as Proverbs says and we guard ourselves from infiltrators who are wolves in sheep's clothing?

Meditate on this....let's see how creative we can be for new Kingdom vision. What can you do to create new ways for networking with God's people.
